The CNFC is run by one part-time staff and many dedicated volunteers who make up our board and committees. The conference, free webinars, contest, and website exist because of the collective spirit of the CNFC and the tireless work of volunteers since 2004. We’re always looking for ways to enrich the CNFC member experience.
Heidi Klaassen (Executive Director) is a Calgary-based writer and editor. Her work has appeared in Salon, The Calgary Herald, Westword, Living Hyphen, Alberta Views, The Sprawl, Redivider, and various anthologies. Her personal essay, “Been Caught Stealing: Life Inside The Lorraine” was a finalist for the 2021 Digital Publishing Awards. She was recently nominated for the 2024 Pushcart Prize for her essay, “Bicycle Trees”.
